Froglessness
Practicing Mindfulness never ends at any age. Kids are so natural with it as they tend to live in present moment mostly. No matter what we promise for tomorrow they always say “NOW” as they don’t know what is living in for tomorrow yet. But when we grow we tend to live in mostly in past or future rather being in the “NOW”.
I would like to share this poem with you all which helps us to be mind full in our activities, starting with one activity like enjoying your meal -take each bite mindfully or walking- enjoy each step placed forward, etc. Thoughts rarely stay on one track like monkeys jump around in a a jumble of ideas, opinions, beliefs, plans, wishes and judgements. So only buddhists call it the monkey mind.
Vietnamese poet Thich Nhat Hanh calls it our Frog Nature in his poem Froglessness.
Welcome to your Frog Nature. This is demonstrated in the following poem by Thich Nhat Hanh.
Froglessness
The first fruition of the practise is
the attainment of Froglessness
When a frog is put on the center of a plate,
she will jump out of the plate
after a few seconds.
If you put the frog back again
on the center of the plate
she will again jump out.
You have so many plans.
There is always something you want to become
Therefore you always want to make a leap,
a leap forward
It is difficult to keep the from still
on the center of the plate.
You and I have Buddha nature in us.
This is encouraging, but you and I
both have Frog Nature in us.
That is why the first attainment of the practice –froflessness is its name.
Set at least 10min a day to practice Meditation that feels comfortable for you.
